Canon 30D / the practical mini-review
|

|
| Specs: |
8 Mp (3504 x 2336) CMOS sensor, metal body, 1.6x FOV crop, 9 AF areas Multi-BASIS TTL, digic II image processor. |
| Pros.: |
Nine auto focus selectable areas, 5 fps, provides a nice color space (and fine WB adjustments). LCD seems more helpful than 40D's even-though it is smaller. Has lighted top LCD. Price is very good (s/h 350 EURO as of 2009). |
| Cons.: |
AF hunting sometimes (can't detect some areas, needs a contrasty point in the selected AF area to get focus), not that good at high ISO under low light (red-ish pixel effect with ISO 1600). Built-in flash can be better. Has no sensor self cleaning system!
|
| Conclusions: |
Good focus, very good in daylight and evening dusk light, nice handling. Overall is slightly under 40D on all aspects, but it is improved over 400D (an upper class). |
